Parent and Caregiver Support & Education

At the Isabel Davis Center for Safe Children, we believe that parents and caregivers deserve more than just information—they deserve support, respect, and real tools to help keep their children safe.

Our programs are designed to meet families where they are, offering practical, evidence-based education on topics like safe sleep and infant wellness, while also addressing the cultural, emotional, and systemic challenges many families face.

Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or your fifth, we are here with resources, guidance, and community—because every caregiver should feel empowered, and no parent should feel alone.

Safe Sleep Information

Most infant sleep-related deaths are preventable. Following safe sleep guidelines—placing babies Alone, on their Back, in a Crib, and in a Smoke-free environment—dramatically reduces the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), including SIDS and accidental suffocation.

These simple steps create the safest possible sleep space for your baby, protecting them during their most vulnerable months and giving them the best chance to grow and thrive.

Here is a quick checklist to ensure your baby is safe, as recommended by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Learn about safe sleep from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).

Here are step-by-step instructions from the CDC about how to make a safe sleep environment for your baby.
