About

The Isabel Davis Center for Safe Children, a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, exists to confront the devastating reality of Sudden Unexpected Death in Pediatrics (SUDP) with the urgency, compassion, and responsibility it demands.

We believe that no child’s death should go unexplained—and no family should face that loss without support. Our work spans scientific discovery, public health, and investigative reform: we examine genetic, physiological, environmental, and social factors that place children at risk, while also improving how these deaths are investigated through specialized training for law enforcement and forensic professionals.

We provide grief resources, memorialization, and opportunities for families to participate in research that honors their child’s life. Our commitment to prevention is grounded in finding what can be known—and acting on it—so that fewer families will ever have to ask why.
